| Host plant resistance to insects, insect/plant interactions, insect biotype selection associated with plant resistance, insect pests of cereal, forage and turfgrass crops, with emphasis on management with plant resistance. Present research emphasis is on Hessian fly resistance in wheat and wheat relatives including evaluation of new sources of germplasm for Hessian fly resistance, the study of mechanisms and genetics of Hessian fly resistance in wheat germplasm and cultivars, the status of Hessian fly biotype development and response of biotypes and field populations to resistance genes, and the influence of insect infestation level, plant genetic background, temperature, etc. on the expression of resistance to the Hessian fly. |
