Margaret (Maggie) Jones

Maggie Jones lives on the farm that has been in her family three generations. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture in 1976. She served in the Peace Corps in Ecuador, South America before returning to her roots.
She served as President of the Minnesota Independent Crop Consultants Association, as well as President of the National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants, and is listed in the Crop Consultant Hall of Fame. She served on the National Sustainable Agriculture Advisory Council and on the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council.
Her businesses are based in south central Minnesota. With her husband, Bruce Nowlin, she owns a crop consulting business, Blue Earth Agronomics, offering services related to nutrient management and integrated pest management, as well as many services related to precision agriculture. Her clients are progressive cash grain and livestock farmers within a 60-mile radius of the home base. The major crops in the area are corn and soybeans. The livestock consists largely of hogs and dairy.
Blue Earth Agronomics is a leader in the information management revolution in agriculture, utilizing the newest Geographic Information Systems technology. They are learning with their clients how to pool massive amounts of data and glean important information for decision-making. Their goal is to keep those clients on the forefront of agriculture.
Her educational company, Blue Land Education, developed and administered producer-level educational courses on precision agriculture. She also developed the web-based curriculum for students in grades K-12 for the National Corn Growers Association.
