Current Project(s): I am responsible examining the basic biology of agricultural insect pests to contrive non-pesticide dependent management strategies that can be included in Integrated Pest Management programs. To this end, I, and others on our faculty, are developing sampling schemes for sweet potato whiteflies on various crops. We are also examining dispersal and migration by whiteflies to allow growers to make informed decisions concerning planting dates and spatial isolation of crops.

Additionally I am working on Pierce's disease in grapes and leafhopper damage in citrus. I am also responsible for developing ways to communicate the information generated to other scientists and the public in traditional and novel ways as a member of Cooperative Extension.
