Deborah G. McCullough is an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, with a joint appointment in the Dept. of Entomology and the Dept. of Forestry. She has research, teaching and extension responsibilities in the general area of forest entomology.

Her extension appointment includes working with state, federal and private forest managers on issues related to forest health and forest pest management. McCullough is involved with gypsy moth management in the state and is the Director of the Michigan Gypsy Moth Education Program. She also works with the Christmas tree industry in Michigan to develop IPM solutions to insect pest problems. McCullough recently cooperated with several state and federal agencies to develop a national compliance program for pine shoot beetle in Christmas tree plantations. She has written or co-authored over 40 extension publications on a variety of forest insect pests.

McCullough's primary research interest is to increase our understanding of the interactions between insects in forest ecosystems, and how management affects those interactions. Current research projects relate to jack pine budworm ecology and management, forest insect biodiversity, gypsy moth management and biocontrol, bark beetle ecology in the Lake States and associations between forest insects and fire.
