Alfalfa snout beetle, Otiorhynchus ligustici (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) (left) is one of four wingless, parthenogenetic, root feeding Otiorhynchus weevils that stowed away on sailing ships carrying ballast from Europe to the United States. All four species are of economic importance. To date, alfalfa snout beetle is found only in northern New York State and in southern Ontario.
