Biography

Dr. Gary J. Brewer is Department Head of the Department of Entomology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His research is centered on sustainable pest management with plant resistance to insects, biological control, and applying an understanding of plant ­ insect interactions to pest management problems being stressed. One of the goals of sustainable pest management is to reduce or eliminate insecticide use. A major focus of his research is the development of insect resistant germplasm and cultural control methods. He has worked on pest management problems in alfalfa, potato, and crambe but his current research emphasis is in sunflower entomology.
